PhotoGIS new Software simplifies the collection, analysis and dissemination of …

Geo tactical solutions (GTS) is the final stage of development for the new mapping and photo management software-PhotoGIS. PhotoGIS, which is planned to be released in the first quarter early 2012, will allow users to easily map, set, export and manage pictures taken with digital cameras GPS-enabled while also providing unique capabilities designed to improve and streamline the photo-capture workflow for various military organizations, federal and commercial.

“By offering a simple to use, yet powerful software solution along with a GPS-enabled camera and our module, we can provide complete end-to-end capture, photo-mapping and reporting solution to our customers which greatly improves the efficiency of workflow,” explains Todd Lushinsky, sales and support manager at Geo tactical solutions.

One interesting feature of PhotoGIS is a QR code generator for the collection of pre-field data. Users enter a project or mission related information that is stored as a ‘ memo ‘ and the software that generates QR codes for the camera to scan. This information is ‘ memo ‘, once in memory, the camera will then attached to each photo that is recorded. ‘ Memo ‘ attached to each digital image file is then used by the program to organize, display and fill out a report according to standard operation ID, photographer name, operation type, and so on.

When the photos were taken with a GPS-enabled rugged digital camera coupled with laser range finder. For further geographical analysis, users can export files in various formats that are sui for normal mapping applications like Google Earth, ArcGIS and FalconView.

PhotoGIS also offers image markup and automated reporting capabilities. Users can drag and drop the attribute information to each image by adding additional notes and simple vector graphics. After the images have been imported and edited, the program can automatically fill in the template report with pictures, GPS location, date and time, Zulu ‘ memo ‘, and additional notes about the photos. Reports can be exported to Word, Power Point, PDF and other common document formats. All images and reports stored in a relational database to maintain data integrity and allowing for centralized sharing and collaboration.
